Raymond Puttick BA Hons FCA CTA
Educated in Chard, Somerset and at Exeter University, he trained in Exeter before joining the firm in 1983. He is a Director with a wealth of experience in the taxation and auditing requirements for the small business or company, who is also well skilled in computer applications. He has taken on the role of Administration Director for the company, after the retirement of John Eaton in 2000. A keen sportsman, he is a qualified badminton and table tennis coach who voluntarily coaches both juniors and adults in the locality in both sports.
Michael Jones FCA
Having been locally educated, he initially joined the practice in 1979, followed by various periods of training in both Liverpool and Exeter. Based at the Ottery St. Mary office, he has a wide experience of all business matters, and aims to provide a totally integrated service for his clients, many of whom have been with him throughout that time.
Christopher Hodge BA FCA
Having trained with the practice from university, he has progressed through all levels to his current standing as a Chartered Accountant. As a Statutory Auditor and specialist in company formation and legislation, he has an overall ability to review and distil technical information relevant to the client.
Duncan Akers BSc ACA FMAAT
After studying at Birmingham University, Duncan joined the firm in 2002 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008, gaining an award for the top mark in the South West in his final exams. Just as comfortable dealing with sole traders as larger enterprises, Duncan’s aim is to save clients time and money whilst maintaining the personal touch. When given a break from bean counting Duncan enjoys competitive sports and ‘relaxing’ with his young family.
Adrian Coombe BA ACA MAAT
Since joining the team in 2004, Adrian has progressed to become a Chartered Accountant and a Director of the firm. He has an understanding of many business types, and strives to offer a personal service in all aspects of accountancy work which puts facts and figures into context.
Adrian is also certified with the ICAEW to carry out Probate and Estate Administration and can assist with any matters in this regard.
Jack Layzell ACA MAAT
Jack joined the practice in 2005 and has progressed to be a Chartered Accountant and Director of the firm. He has a wide range of knowledge and is comfortable in dealing with clients closely and personally in all aspects of accountancy and tax. He is also qualified to carry out Probate and Estate Administration.
Mark Sweet MAAT ATT
Based in the Ottery St Mary office, he has been trained and educated within the firm, having joined in 1988, rising to Office Manager status. Dealing directly with many clients, he has an extensive knowledge of all Accountancy and Taxation matters, and is always responsive to his clients' requirements.
Barbara Hodgson BSc. FCA
Educated in Workington, Cumbria and at Bradford University, she trained and qualified in London with BDO Stoy Hayward, and then spent a year with top firm Touché Ross, before moving to Dorset. After spending a number of years working in the Dorset/Hampshire area she took a career break to have children and joined the practice in 1992. Based at Ottery St Mary, Barbara specialises in personal tax and accountancy matters with an emphasis on client service and care. In her spare time Barbara works as a volunteer with the Force Cancer Charity in Exeter as well as being kept busy by her grandchildren.
